The Spain Summer Exchange Program is one of the most popular destinations in AFS, with over 400 students from around the world participating annually in Málaga, Spain, for cultural exchange, personal growth, and global understanding. This program focuses on intensive Spanish language learning and meaningful intercultural exchange, helping students immerse themselves in the local culture, improve their communication skills, and build lasting international friendships.

Intensive Spanish Classes
In the 4-week Spanish exchange program, students will enhance their language skills through approximately 80 hours of Spanish lessons (about 20 hours per week) and cultural activities. The courses and materials are provided by professional teachers, and an assessment will be conducted at the beginning to ensure you are placed in the class that best suits your level.
*Certificate of Participation: At the end of the program, students will receive a certificate acknowledging their participation in the Spanish language course.
Cultural Exchange and International Friendship
Living in a boarding school with AFS students from around the world allows you to learn how to interact with people from different cultural backgrounds, fostering intercultural communication skills and building lasting international friendships.
Diverse Activity Experiences
Spanish language classes are scheduled in the morning, leaving afternoons free for student activities and exploration. Students will have ample opportunities to participate in various activities and excursions to gain a deeper understanding of the local culture. They will have the chance to visit museums, experience football, engage in leisure activities such as beach outings, hiking, and various sports, or take weekend trips to nearby cities, promoting personal growth and teamwork.

Málaga is well-known for its beautiful, high-quality beaches, such as La Malagueta, which is an ideal place to relax and enjoy the sun.

Nearby Town: Granada . Granada is located at the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains which is rich in Muslim art, particularly showcased in the Alhambra and the Generalife gardens. The Alhambra was originally built as a small fortress in 889 and is connected to the Generalife. It was designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1984.

Nearby Town: Seville. It is the capital of the Andalusia region in Spain. Its old town covers an area of 4 square kilometers, making it the third-largest historic center in Europe, home to three UNESCO World Heritage Sites: the Alcázar, the Cathedral and “Giralda,” and the Archives of the Indies.

Nearby Town: Marbella. It is located on the Mediterranean coast, nestled between Málaga and the Strait of Gibraltar at the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains. This city is particularly favored by tourists from Northern Europe, as well as from Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, and is known for attracting celebrities and affluent individuals. It is a popular destination for luxury yachts and often hosts cruise ships at its port.
