Program Objective

Participants in the Kenya summer exchange program will gain practical knowledge in sustainable development and wildlife conservation. By exploring renewable energy projects in Kenya, such as geothermal and wind power, participating in wildlife protection initiatives, and learning effective ecosystem management techniques, they will enhance their ability to respond to climate change and protect biodiversity. Additionally, by experiencing Maasai cultural exchanges and engaging in hands-on community service, participants will tackle environmental challenges and ultimately develop into responsible global citizens with a commitment to sustainability.

Nairobi / Kitengela:Nairobi, the main city of Kenya, offers convenient transportation and resources, while nearby Kitengela is ideal for community service in supporting Maasai children and their communities.

Naivasha:With its lake and ecosystem, a place for learning about renewable energy, infrastructure and climate change-related projects.

Masai Mara:A unique wildlife conservation haven with diverse mammals and birds, featuring spectacular animal migrations across the Mara River and opportunities for visiting the Masai Village for cultural experiences with the local Maasai tribes.

We will take you to visit several wildlife nature reserve and national parks in Kenya, including The Wildlife Foundation, Masai Mara National Reserve, and Hell’s Gate National Park. Participants can engage in safaris game drive in the wildlife nature reserve. Under the guidance of AFS Kenya and professional guides, you will have the chance to observe and search for wildlife, experiencing the beauty of Africa’s nature. You may also have the opportunity to participate in and witness the magnificent scenes of animal migration, learning about their migration habits and ecological importance, and gaining insights into the behaviors and ecological roles of various birds, primates, large felines, and other wildlife.

Exploring Renewable Energy Projects in Kenya

Kenya’s renewable energy programs are vibrant and diverse, including geothermal, solar and wind power. Participants can not only visit the various natural landscapes of Kenya but also gain a deeper understanding of how the country utilizes natural energy to develop sustainable energy, driving economic growth, improving energy access, and supporting environmental protection.
