Artificial intelligence, blockchain, VR/AR, metaverse … … Our world is changing fast. It is time to rethink whether the traditional teaching and learning model, taking place in only classrooms, is enough to prepare our students for future global challenges.

The upcoming AFS sharing session cordially invites Former Principal of Li Po Chun United World College of Hong Kong (LPCUWC), Dr. Arnett Edwards. He will share insights on what skills and traits are in demand for the future and the role of education in empowering young people. AFS also invites four AFS returnees currently working in different fields. They will share their personal educational backgrounds, career paths, and how these choices shape their unique future. There will be a Q&A session at the end of each part, we welcome questions from the floor.

Language: Sharing by Dr. Edwards will be conducted in English, while sharing by AFS returnees will be conducted in Cantonese

Dr. Arnett Edwards

Dr. Edwards has been the Principal of Li Po Chun United World College of Hong Kong (LPCUWC) for the past 12 years since 2011. LPCUWC, which was established in 1992, is one of the 18 United World Colleges (UWC) spread across the globe. The college implements the unique UWC educational model, with diversity at its core, connecting students from over 90 different nationalities, cultures, and socio-economic backgrounds. Dr. Edwards is a graduate of the University of Bristol and the former Vice Principal of King George V School from 2005 to 2011. He later obtained a Doctor of Education (EdD) in Educational Leadership from The Education University of Hong Kong.

Siuki Ma

Participated in the AFS Year Exchange Program in Spain in 2002-03, Siuki later studied at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA) and Huarte de San Juan in Spain. She is Founder of MUFLA CREATIVE. Her company focuses on event planning, video production and theatrical production. She is also the General Manager of ARHT TECH (North Asia) and Part-time Academic Staff at HKAPA.

Selina Cheng

Participated in the AFS Year Exchange Program in France in 2008-09, Selina later studied at Université Paris – Sorbonne in France and Columbia Journalism School in the United States. She is Reporter at The Wall Street Journal and Board Member of Hong Kong Journalists Association. She previously worked in other news channels, such as, HK01 and Associated Press.

Peggy Lam

Participated in the AFS Year Exchange Program in the United States in 2011-12, Peggy later obtained her Master of International and Public Affairs degree from the University of Hong Kong. She is Co-founder of Ways Out Hong Kong, a social enterprise which upcycles household food waste to jewelry, promotes “sustainability for all” and support young single moms in enhancing their personal development. She previously worked at Voltra Hong Kong, Feeding Hong Kong, and was English Lecturer in universities in Thailand.

Linus Wong

Participated in the AFS Year Exchange Program in Japan from 2012-13, Linus later studied Risk Management and Japanese Studies at the University of Hong Kong, and worked as an intern at Japan Airlines and Hong Kong Airlines. After graduation, he joined the Airport Authority Hong Kong, as he pursued a bachelor’s degree virtually in aviation management in Australia, considering to become a pilot. In light of Covid, Linus decide to switch his career path, now working as a fire station officer. He has also completed his Master’s degree in Fire and Safety Engineering at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
